Save on sewer charges for pool filling & irrigation use
Avoid paying sewer fees for water that doesn’t enter the sewer system.
Use a temporary meter when filling your pool and consider a dedicated irrigation meter for lawn and garden watering. Both options ensure applicable water is excluded from sewer billing.

Steps for Adding a Second Meter for Irrigation
- Contact a licensed plumbing contractor to inquire about installing an irrigation meter for your property.
- Submit a Water Sewer Application (WSA) form along with a $50.00 check made payable to EWMUA. Indicate that the application is for an irrigation meter and complete it as thoroughly as possible.
- Apply for a plumbing permit through East Windsor Township.
- Once the WSA is approved by EWMUA and the plumbing permit is issued by East Windsor Township, you may purchase the new irrigation meter directly from EWMUA.
- Hire your plumbing contractor to install the new irrigation meter in accordance with all applicable plumbing codes and standards.
- All new irrigation systems must be inspected by both EWMUA and the Township Plumbing Inspector prior to activation.
Important Notes
- Sewer deduct meters are not permitted.
- The East Windsor MUA Board has approved a two-year suspension of the outdoor meter pit requirement, effective November 12, 2025, due to the high cost of installation.
